The lady sitting across the desk from me was in her mid-thirties, attractive with short black hair. She wore a tailored grey skirt suit over a flimsy white shirt with a long pointed collar. Her jacket had been left unbuttoned and the outline of a white lacy bra showed through the shirt if you were the type to look. In her left hand she was held a lighted cigarette stained around the tip from her flame red lipstick. I’d met Mrs. Summers many times before but not in these surroundings – for she was my best friend’s aunt.
